NWF Soars to 87-44 Victory Over Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – On Wednesday, the Northwest Florida State women's basketball team clinched their 17th victory of the season by dominating Tallahassee with a final score of 87-44, maintaining an undefeated regular season record, and 2-0 record in conference play.

Mekhia Chase delivered an outstanding performance, leading the game in scoring with a season-high 21 points. She also contributed three rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Celia Riviere continued her scoring consistency, recording 18 points for the second consecutive game, along with three rebounds and a pair of steals. Stephanie Mosely and Jade Ondineme achieved season-high scores, with Mosley finishing with 12 points and Ondineme matching her previous high of nine.

As a collective effort, the Raiders showcased impressive shooting accuracy, connecting on 52.2% of their field goal attempts. This marked the tenth occasion this season that they surpassed the 50.0% mark. Interestingly, the team made only one three-pointer in the game, marking the third time this season they achieved such a low count. In contrast, Tallahassee struggled against the Raiders' defense, shooting at 31.9% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range. The Eagles found themselves outmatched in nearly every statistical category, except for three-point makes and blocks.

SUMMARY

In the first quarter, the Eagles took an early lead, starting the game with a 6-0 advantage. Celia Riviere scored the Raiders' first points with a post-up layup, and back-to-back turnovers by the Eagles allowed the Raiders to tie the score at six. Despite a five-point lead by the Eagles, a layup by TCC and subsequent plays brought the score to 11-10. Kyla McBride's layup ignited a 13-0 run, concluding the first quarter with NWF leading 23-11.

The second quarter saw a slow start, with each team scoring only one point in the first two minutes. Celia Riviere's contributions, including a reverse layup and a pull-up jumper, extended the Raiders' lead. Free throws by Mekhia Chase and a fastbreak score further increased NWF's advantage, leading to a 42-24 halftime lead.

Celia Riviere dominated the third quarter, scoring the first three baskets and contributing to a 24-point lead for NWF. Jaela Davis broke a scoring drought with a fast break layup and a three. The Raiders' physical play limited TCC to four points, ending the third quarter with a commanding 66-28 lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders continued their defensive pressure and offensive efficiency, maintaining a significant lead. Despite the Eagles' efforts, the Raiders consistently answered with multiple baskets. The game concluded with NWF securing a decisive 87-44 victory, marking their 17th win of the season.
