Raiders Fall to Pensacola 69-66 on the Road

PENSCOLA, Fla. — Northwest Florida State women's basketball suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Pensacola State in a hard-fought offensive showdown that featured a combined 16 three-pointers.

The Raiders started strong, taking a narrow 20-19 lead into the second quarter after draining three triples. However, defensive struggles at the rim allowed the Pirates to stay within striking distance. Northwest Florida built a 25-19 lead early in the second, but a four-minute scoring drought allowed Pensacola to claw back and take its first lead. The Raiders briefly regained the advantage before the Pirates knocked down a buzzer-beating three to head into halftime up 33-31.

The third quarter saw multiple lead changes as both teams continued their offensive rhythm. The Raiders remained hot from beyond the arc, but the Pirates consistently answered—either with easy buckets inside or open looks from the corner. Heading into the fourth, Pensacola held a slim 51-49 edge.

The final quarter was a battle, with the Raiders staying within reach. Jade Ondineme cut the deficit to one with a pair of free throws and a defensive stop that led to a fastbreak score. But Pensacola responded with a three and a pair of inside baskets to push its lead to five in the closing minutes.

In the game's final seconds, Northwest Florida had a chance to tie at 67 when Kamryn Corporan was fouled driving to the basket. She made one of two free throws, keeping the Pirates ahead by a point. Pensacola then knocked down two free throws on the other end to extend its lead to 69-66. With less than 10 seconds remaining, Corporan took the inbound, raced down the floor, and launched a wide-open three at the buzzer. The shot bounced off the backboard and rim before falling short, sealing the Raiders' 69-66 defeat.
