
Chase Powers Raiders to 79-56 Victory Over Northeast Miss.
BOONEVILLE, Miss. – The Northwest Florida State College women's basketball team maintained their perfect season with a decisive 79-56 victory over Northeast Mississippi.
After a competitive start, the Raiders dominated the latter part of the first quarter, closing with a 21-2 run to lead 28-8.Their defense was formidable, forcing 16 turnovers in the first half, which translated into numerous fast-break opportunities. Nevaeh Scott spearheaded the offense early, contributing 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, helping the Raiders to a 42-20 halftime advantage.
In the third quarter, the Raiders continued their strong performance. Mekhia Chase was particularly effective, scoring 9 of her game-high 23 points during this period. Although the Tigers showed some resilience in the final quarter, the Raiders' lead remained unchallenged, culminating in a 23-point victory.
As a team, the Raiders shot an impressive 53.1% from the field and dominated the paint with 54 points. Their defense was equally impactful, forcing 26 turnovers and converting them into 31 points. The bench provided a substantial boost, adding 20 points to the team's total.
