Scott Plus Defense Shine In Raiders Victory Over Santa Fe.
NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State women's basketball team improved to 4-0 for the season with another dominant performance, this time defeating FCSAA opponent Santa Fe, 62-30.
Nevaeh Scott was on fire from beyond the arc, scoring a career-high 20 points, including five three-pointers. She also contributed five rebounds, one assist, and a steal. Deborah Davenport and Mekhia Chase also made key contributions, with Davenport adding 11 points and eight rebounds, while Chase recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.
While individual performances stood out, it was the Raiders' defense that stole the show. They held the Saints to just 17% shooting, with fewer than nine successful shots all game. Most of Santa Fe's points came from free throws, accounting for 10 of their total score. The Raiders allowed no more than 11 points per quarter and held the Saints scoreless in the final period.
This game was a perfect example of the defense and rebounding focus that Bart Walker's teams have exemplified over the past seven years. The Raiders now face a big test tomorrow, as they prepare to take on #11 Southern Idaho. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. (CDT) at Raider Arena.
