McPhaul and Riviere Earn All-America Honors

CHARLOTTE — In an announcement made by the NJCAA on Tuesday afternoon, the 2024 Women's Basketball All-American awards were unveiled, with two Raiders making the prestigious list. Destiney McPhaul secured a spot on the first team, while Celia Riviere earned second-team honors.

McPhaul's remarkable sophomore season saw her averaging 14.4 points on 49.4 percent shooting, alongside 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 33 games played. Her total of 475 points for the season ranks fourth in program history for a single season, behind Sakima Walker, Daniela Waller, and Acey Powell. Notably, McPhaul played a pivotal role in leading the Raiders back to the National Championship, averaging 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game across four games in the NJCAA Tournament. This recognition marks McPhaul as the sixth First Team All-American selection in program history and the third in the last four seasons.

Riviere's stellar performance earned her Second Team recognition, with an average of 12.5 points per game on 56.8 percent shooting, accompanied by 6.8 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists per game. She notably stood out in the FCSAA State/Region VIII Tournament last month, averaging 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists across three games, ultimately securing the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award. Riviere joins an elite group as just the third Raider to ever receive second-team recognition, following in the footsteps of Shander Garry (1993) and Chanaya Pinto (2021).
