Riviere Earns Region VIII Women's Basketball Player Of The Week

TALLAHASSEE — The FCSAA announced Tuesday that Celia Riviere earned this week's Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, following standout performances against two top-25 teams.

Riviere, a 6'1" forward from France, played a pivotal role in the Raiders' success last week after they secured two victories over formidable opponents—No. 18 Pensacola State (89-56) and No. 2 Gulf Coast (77-67). Against Pensacola, Riviere achieved a career-high 29 points, along with ten rebounds and six assists, marking her seventh double-double of the season. She continued her impressive play against No. 2 Gulf Coast, contributing 13 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, aiding in the Raiders' victory and clinching a share of the Panhandle Conference Championship.

Throughout the season, Riviere has maintained solid averages, posting  13.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, with an impressive 57.4% shooting percentage, which ranks 18th nationally.

Now that the regular season in finished, Riviere and the Raiders shift their focus over to the FCSAA State/ Region VIII Tournament next week in Niceville, Fla. The Raiders can expect to have one of the top seeds in the bracket after claiming a share of the Panhandle Conference Championship, but won't find out until Friday (March 8) when the final brackets are revealed.
