Raiders Close Out Non-Conference Play in Tennessee

TIP-OFF  

Northwest Florida State women's basketball closes out the non-conference portion of their schedule Monday with a road game in Gallatin, Tenn. against Volunteer State. The Raiders enter the week 14-0 on the season and are hoping to maintain their 18-game win streak, which dates back to last season.

The Pioneers have had a rough season to this point, going 1-13 through the first two months of the season. Their lone win on the season came on November 8, 2023, against Trevecca JV, where the Pioneers came away with a 81-53 victory.

 

LAST TIME OUT

NWF secured their 14th win of the season last week against Santa Fe College, defeating the Saints commandingly, 84-58. As a team, The Raiders shot 51.7% from the field and 42.6% from three, while holding the Saints to 41.0% from the field and 31.8% from three. NWF nearly matched their season high in free throw makes (19) after hitting 18 of their 29 attempts from the line.

Celia Riviere led the Raiders in scoring with 19 points while adding five rebounds. Destiney McPhaul (15) and Jaela Davis (10) also reached double figures in scoring while both adding four steals on the defensive end. 

 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

The Raiders currently rank top-30 in the nation for 12 different statistical categories and top ten in five categories, including field goals made per game (8th)(31.5), field goal percentage (2nd)(51.4), assists per game (2nd)(23.1), points allowed per game (3rd)(43.1) and opponents' field goal percentage (8th)(30.7).

In addition, the Raiders have a pair of players who rank top-ten of the NJCAA field goal percentage – Deborah Davenport ranks eighth at 66.7% and Celia Riviere ranks tenth at an even 66.0%. Additionally, second year guard Destiney McPhaul Ranks top-50 in few categories as well – McPhaul ranks 42nd in three-point percentage at 40.6% and 47th in assists per game at 4.2.
