Raider Close Out 2023 With Game Against Santa Fe

NICEVILLE, Florida – Northwest Florida State women's basketball is back in action this weekend as they get set to face Santa Fe College Saturday in Gainesville, FL for the Best Western Gateway Grand Classic II.

The Raiders enter the weekend as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation and will look to continue their success into the new year as they gear up for the start of conference play, beginning January 13.

 

TIP-OFF  

Tip-off for Saturday's contest is scheduled for 2:00 PM (CST) from the campus of Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL.

The Raiders are riding a 17-game win streak dating back to last season. They saw their last win come a few weeks back in Panama City, Fla. where the Raiders dominated Columbia State 67-28.

LAST TIME OUT

NWF secured their 13th win of the season last time out against Columbia State. The Raiders defense held the Chargers to no more than eight points in each quarter, keeping them under 30.0% shooting and forcing them to 17 turnovers in the game.

Additionally, NWF saw four players surpass double-digit figures in scoring; Destiney McPhaul (12), Jaela Davis (11), Deborah Davenport (11) and Mekhia Chase (10) all reached double figures in scoring, helping the Raiders to victory.

 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

The Raiders currently rank top-30 in the nation for 12 different statistical categories and top ten in six categories, including field goals made per game (9th)(31.6), field goal percentage (2nd)(51.4), assists per game (2nd)(22.8), points allowed per game (1st)(42.0), opponents' field goal percentage (6th)(29.6) and opponents' three-point percentage (21.7)

In addition, the Raiders have a pair of players who rank towards the top of the NJCAA in a few individual categories. Deborah Davenport ranks seventh in field goal percentage (67.6%) and Celia Riviere ranks 14th in field goal percentage (65.2%).
