Raiders Dominate Tigers Friday For Tenth Win of the Season

NICEVILLE, Florida – On Friday, Northwest Florida State women's basketball clinched their tenth victory of the season by dominating Andrew College with a commanding 76-23 win.

 

Throughout the night, the Raiders' defense remained highly active, compelling a total of 38 turnovers while limiting their opponents to no more than eight points in any quarter. Displaying dominance on the boards, the team secured a plus-14 rebound margin, with a noteworthy plus-12 advantage on the offensive glass.

 

In an impressive offensive performance, four different Raiders reached double-digit points in the game. Jaela Davis and Deborah Davenport led the scoring with 13 points each, while Destiney McPhaul and Celia Riviere contributed 10 points each. Rebounding efforts were widespread, with 11 different Raiders recording a rebound, including notable performances from Nevaeh Scott, Deannasty Smith, and Deborah Davenport, each grabbing six boards.

 

With this win, the Raiders maintain an undefeated record of 10-0 for the season and aim to extend it to 11-0 in their upcoming matchup against No. 9 Pearl River.

 

FIRST QUARTER

  • NWF got off to a hot start after connecting on six of their first seven shot attempts.
  • With 4:17 left in the quarter, Nevaeh Scott put in a layup giving the Raiders a double-digit lead at 15-5.
  • The Raiders would close out the quarter on a 8-0 run bringing the score to 23-5 after ten minutes of play.

 

SECOND QUARTER

  • Three made free throws and a layup by the Raiders extended the score to 28-7 with just under nine minutes remaining until the half.
  • Destiney McPhaul knocked down a three with two miutes into the quarter giving the Raiders a 22-point advantage.
  • After a Deborah Davenport layup with 7:46 left in the half, the Raiders went on a near four-minute scoring drought until Jaela Davis ended it with a made layup with just of four to play in the half.
  • A Jaela Davis three and Jade Ondineme layup would close out the scoring for the half as the Raiders headed to the locker room with a 45-11 lead.

 

THIRD QUARTER

  • Celia Riviere got the scoring started for the Raiders in the second half with a made jumper from the paint.
  • Deborah Davenport would add to the Raiders lead with a made layup just under the 5:30 mark in the quarter.
  • Nevaeh Scott gave the Raiders 60 points for the match with a made three from the corner.
  • Deannasty Smith would close out the frame with a layup, giving NWF a 62-19 lead headed to the fourth and final period of play.

 

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Destiney McPhaul and Jade Ondineme hit back-to-back shots to start the scoring for the Raiders in the fourth.
  • A Nevaeh Scott layup with 7:11 to play put the Raiders at an even 70 points.
  • After nearly four minutes without a score from either side, Deannasty Smith put the Raiders back on the board with a layup, giving them a 51-point lead.
  • A Mekhia Chase layup with just over a minute to play would close out the scoring for the Raiders in the game, as the Raiders walk away with a 76-23 victory.

The Raiders are back at Raider Arena tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM CST for a game against No. 9 Pearl River.
