Raiders Set to Play Three Games This Week, Starting with East Miss. On Tuesday
NICEVILLE, Florida – After an impressive showing this past weekend in Panama City, which saw Northwest Florida State go 2-0 after defeating Salt Lake (59-52) and Central Georgia Tech. (82-36) - the Raiders will look to improve to 3-0 on the season as they head to East Mississippi to take on the Lions from Scooba, Miss. Beginning at 5:30 PM.
LAST WEEK
- The Raiders secured their first win on the season with a 59-52 victory over Salt Lake last Friday following a second half comeback led by second year guard Destiney McPhaul.
- McPhaul scored a game-high 21-points in the Raiders, shooting 7-13 from the field and 3-5 from three. She also added four assists and five steals to her stat sheet.
- The Raiders defeated Central Georgia Tech. by a whopping 46 points on Saturday bringing them to 2-0 on the season after three Raiders found themselves with double-digit points.
- Deborah Davenport (12), Jaela Davis (10) and Stephanie Mosley (10) each scored in double-figures for the Raiders on Saturday. For Davis, this was the first time she's scored double digits since March of last season when she did so in back-to-back games against Chipola and Florida Southwestern State.
THIS WEEK
- The Raiders open week two of the season at East Mississippi Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 5:30 PM when they take on the Lions in Scooba, Miss. The Lions come into the game 0-1 after losing to Holmes College on Friday 71-59.
- From there, the Raiders will return home for pair of games starting with Miami Dade on Friday, Nov. 10, at 5:30 PM, before hosting Eastern Florida the following day, Nov. 11, also at 5:30 PM.
- For Miami Dade, this weekend will be their first taste of regular season action. As for Eastern Florida, the Titans come into the event 1-1 after splitting a pair of games last weekend in Jacksonville. The Titans defeated Southern Crescent 85-45 before falling to Pensacola State 87-82.
STAT LEADERS
- Stephanie McPhaul leads the Raiders in points per game through two games, averaging 14.0 points a contest. She also leads the Raiders in minutes played (33.5), steals per game (2.5) and is tied with Nevaeh Scott for assists per game (2.0).
- Mekhia Chase leads the Raiders in rebounds per game (4.5)
- Kyla McBride currently leads the team in blocks per game (1.0).
OTHER GAMES THIS WEEK
- As a part of the Raider Classic Northwest Florida is hosting this week, fans will have the opportunity to watch eight games between men's and women's basketball this Friday and Saturday.
- The weekend kicks off on Friday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 PM with a women's basketball match between Gulf Coast and Eastern Florida before switching over to men's basketball at 3:30 when Pensacola and Meridian will square off.
- From there, Both Raiders Women's and Men's basketball will play back-to-back with the women set to face Miami Dade at 5:30 PM, and the Men set to face Southern Union at 7:30 PM.
- Saturday features four more games starting with another women's match at 1:30 PM between Gulf Coast and Miami Dade before Pensacola and Southern Union square off on the men's side at 3:30 PM.
- Once again, Raiders Women's and Men's basketball will go back-to-back starting with the women going at 5:30 PM against Eastern Florida. The men will cap off the weekend with a game against Meridian beginning at 7:30 PM.
