Lady Raiders Overcome Adversity, Win 77-72

NICEVILLE, Fla. – The Lady Raiders showed great resiliency this afternoon as they overcame a late 10-point deficit. Northwest Florida held off the Chipola Lady Indians for a 77-72 victory to improve their record to 18-2, 6-0 in the Panhandle Conference.

Northwest Florida overcame many obstacles tonight as Sakima Walker was held out for most of the game due to foul trouble. Zayla Tinner exited early with a bruised knee. Destiney McPhaul stepped up, playing the entire 40 minutes, and carried the Raiders to a 5-point win, scoring 22 points on 7-15 shooting while dealing out 8 assists.

Ro Marc played a huge role in tonight's victory as she had 9 points and secured 10 rebounds, including a clutch AND-1 towards the end of the game to make it a two-score game. Despite the low minutes tonight, Sakima Walker was still able to fill up the stat sheet with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The Raiders (18-2, 6-0) will have a bye this Wednesday and will take the court again vs. Pensacola State College (15-7, 2-3) on Saturday, February 4th. Northwest Florida won a tight game in Hartsell Arena in the first matchup, 59-50. Pensacola has lost their last 3 games but will play at Tallahassee on Wednesday.
