Raiders Notch Big Win over #6 Gulf Coast

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida's 12-0 run at the end of the first half helped put away #6 Gulf Coast 73-60 in Saturday afternoon's top-10 matchup. The second quarter proved to be the difference as the Raiders scored 22 and held Gulf Coast to 8 points.

 

The Raiders defense continues to be suffocating as they forced 19 turnovers tonight and turned the Commodores' miscues into 25 points on the other end. Northwest Florida is allowing 50.3 points/game.

 

On the offensive end, the Raiders had their way inside the paint tonight as Sakima Walker led the team with 15 points on 7-11 shooting, 14 of those coming from inside the paint. Northwest Florida outscored the Commodores 46-28 inside the paint.

 

4 Raiders were in double figures tonight with Sakima Walker and Zayla Tinner at 15 a piece. Ro Marc accounted for 12 while Destiney McPhaul had 11. Walker led the team with 9 rebounds and Tinner dished out a team-leading 6 assists.

 

Coach Walker and his squad improved their record to 16-2, 4-0 in the Panhandle Conference. The Raiders will head over to Tallahassee on Wednesday, January 25th to take on the Lady Eagles. Tallahassee is 2-18 on the year, 0-4 in Panhandle Conference play. This will be the second matchup between NWF and Tallahassee with the Raiders coming away with an 82-56 win on January 11th in Raider Arena.
