Raiders Calm the Storm, Defeat Lady Pirates 59-50

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Raiders held off a second half surge from the Pirates, coming away with a 59-50 win in Hartsell Arena on Wednesday night. Northwest Florida improves their Panhandle Conference record to 3-0.

It was a tale of two halves for Northwest Florida as the Raiders outscored the Pirates 38-20 in the first half. Coming out of intermission, the home crowd became rowdy, and Pensacola State started to play with a lot of confidence. Despite scoring just 8 points in the 4th quarter, Northwest Florida was able to come away with a 9-point victory over the Pirates.

Ro Marc was instrumental in the Raiders victory tonight as she was 8-8 from the field, en route to 16 points. Sakima Walker was second in points tonight with 14 and recorded 6 rebounds. Zayla Tinner led the team with 8 rebounds.

The Raiders (15-2) will take the court on Saturday, January 21st in a highly anticipated top-10 matchup vs. Gulf Coast State College. The Lady Commodores (17-1) are ranked #6 in the country, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Chipola Lady Indians 83-76 on the road.
