NWF Wins Big in Opening Conference Game
MARIANNA, Fla. - Northwest Florida got ahead early and stayed in control from start to finish in the opening conference game vs. Chipola. The Raiders won in convincing fashion 66-52 in Milton Johnson Center on Saturday night.
The biggest difference in Saturday's contest was on the boards as the Raiders out-rebounded the Lady Indians 40-25. Sakima Walker played a huge part in dominating in the paint as she scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Ro Marc recorded 9 rebounds for the Raiders.
Mya Pierfax had a stellar night, finishing with 21 points on 8-12 shooting. Destiney McPhaul was efficient with 5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Zayla Tinner locked up Ashley Baez on the defensive side of the ball, holding the leading scorer in the country to 14 points on the night on 4-18 (22.2%) shooting. The Raiders were on fire from the field, shooting 25-47 (53.2%) from the field and draining 6-13 (46.2%) from 3.
The Raiders (13-2) will be back home for their next game on Wednesday, January 11 vs. Tallahassee Community College. The Eagles (2-14) had a bye on Saturday night and will have their first conference game in Raider Arena.
