NWF Women Dominate Season Opener

NICEVILLE, Fla. - #4 Northwest Florida State women's basketball dominated DME Academy in all facets of the game from start to finish in a 89-43 win on Thursday night.

 

The Raiders led for all 40 minutes of the game and shot 55.9 percent from the field. Coach Bart Walker's defense was suffocating as they forced 36 turnovers and holding DME Academy to only 31.9 percent from the field.  Northwest Florida excelled in taking advantage of those forced turnovers as they scored 39 points off the DME mistakes.

 

Celia Riviere led NWF with 19 points on 9-11 shooting as one of 3 Raiders to score in double figures. Destiney McPhaul knifed through the lane time and time again, dishing out 6 assists, while scoring 10 points as well. Mya Pierfax accounted for 12 of the Raiders points and Marissa Gasaway led the team in rebounds with 8.

 

Northwest Florida takes on Columbia State Friday, November 4th at Gulf Coast State College, with the tip-off scheduled at 5:30 PM.
