Northwest Florida dashes past Tallahassee 79-45

NICEVILLE, FL - Thanks to a business-like approach, the Raiders set the tone early and often against Tallahassee on Wednesday evening on the campus of Northwest Florida State College.  Down their leading scorer for the game, Last-Tear Poa, and playing their fourth game in 8 days, NWF knew they had to be ready to play from the jump.  Mission accomplished…..the Raiders raced out to a 20-5 advantage after the first quarter and never looked back in route to a 79-45 victory over the Eagles.

The win, which moved NWF to 20-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play, looked very similar to their previous game on Monday vs. Pensacola.  A tough defense held Tallahassee to a paltry 32% shooting on the night.  Also, another balanced effort was on display when the Raiders possessed the ball.  Nearly the entire roster scored.  Perhaps the most indicative statistic of their balance was only one Raiders scored in double figures and the team as a whole scored 79 points.  And finally, the team-first mentality NWF rode to victory on Monday permeated throughout the Raider sideline yet again.

Shelbee Brown led the Raiders in scoring with 16 points.  Sabou Gueye added 9 and Masengo Mutanda, Ines Piper, and Zyniah Thomas each had 8 points.

Northwest Florida will next be in action when they travel to Pensacola State College on Saturday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m.
