NICEVILLE, Fla. – The nation's top defense was on full display as Northwest Florida State women's basketball defeated Pearl River 51-38 on Saturday.
The Raiders held the Wildcats to just 26.7 percent (12-45) shooting for the game and improved to 12-0 on the season.
Pearl River couldn't find an uncontested shot all night as it scored just 12 points in the paint and went 3-for-15 from beyond the arc.
Northwest Florida got a solid performance from Last-Tear Poa, who was 5-of-10 from the field to finish with a game-high 17 points. Shelbee Brown turned in a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The win was the 16th straight overall dating back to last season and the seventh straight over a Region 23 (Mississippi) opponent.
The Raiders return to action on Dec. 17 at home against USC Salk.
