Northwest Florida Women’s Hoops Eye Outright Title Saturday

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 5 Northwest Florida women's basketball can claim the Panhandle Conference title outright with a win at Pensacola Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. and the men are scheduled to take the court at 7:30 p.m.

The regular season finale sees the NWF women (23-4, 8-3 PC) square off against a Pirate team that the Raiders have defeated twice this season by an average of 21 points. In the last meeting on Feb. 5, four Raiders scored in double figures led by Chanaya Pinto with 20 and Reneasha Payton with 19.

Northwest Florida has won the last nine meetings against Pensacola (16-13, 4-7) including 10 of the last 11 on the road in the series.

Gulf Coast's win over Chipola on Wednesday kept the Commodores in the hunt for a shared conference championship, but an NWF win will solidify the Raiders spot as the top Panhandle Conference seed in the FCSAA/Region VIII State Tournament on March 5-7.
