Raiders Prepped for Clash with Pensacola

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida men's and women's basketball host Pensacola Wednesday starting with the women at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m. 

Both games will be streamed live on Emerald Coast TV.

The seventh-ranked women (19-4, 4-3 PC) are looking to keep pace in a wild Panhandle Conference race. Gulf Coast, at 5-2, leads the league by a half a game, while Chipola follows closely behind at 5-3 and the Raiders one game back at 4-3.

Pensacola (14-11, 2-5) has dropped two straight games after upsetting Gulf Coast on Jan. 22. The Pirates rank 14th out of 18 Region VIII teams in points per game but stand fourth in the region in defense allowing just 60.4 points per contest.

Northwest Florida men are looking to snap a seven-game skid. The Raiders (12-11, 0-7) are fourth in Region VIII averaging 29.7 defensive rebounds per game; the team is third holding opponents to 30.3 percent shooting from 3-point range.

In the last meeting between NWF and Pensacola, the women won, 62-40, while the men fell, 65-60.
