Raiders Claim Win Over Indian River

NICEVILLE, Fla. – A strong third quarter helped lift No. 4 Northwest Florida women's basketball to a 63-45 win over Indian River in the JUCO Shootout in Raider Arena Friday.

The Raiders (10-0) struggled offensively early shooting just 22.2 percent in the opening quarter, but some midgame adjustments led to NWF taking the third frame 24-13 while knocking down 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) shots in the quarter.

Fapou Semebene turned in a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds; she was 9-for-11 from the free throw line. Chanaya Pinto had 14 points and eight boards, while Reneasha Payton added 13 points and five rebounds. Gabriela Sales was the fourth Raider in double digits scoring 10 points to go along with nine rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Northwest Florida outrebounded Indian River (5-6) 45-30 and forced the Pioneers into 21 turnovers leading to 25 points.

With the win, the Raiders have now started at least 10-0 in each of the last three seasons.
