No. 4 NWF Cruises Past Denmark Tech

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 4 Northwest Florida finished off the NWF Classic in style with a 100-27 win over Denmark Tech Saturday in Raider Arena.

The Raiders (5-0) outscored their opponents 181-44 in the two games over the weekend. Laura Taylor finished with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including five 3-pointers.

"I thought it was good experience for some of the players who haven't played a lot of minutes this season, Northwest Florida head coach Bart Walker said. "We created some offense, but we've got to do a better job of sustaining our defensive intensity throughout the game."

Five Raiders scored in double figures. Chanaya Pinto was 8-of-9 from the field to finish with 17 points. Rayven Peeples scored 16 points to end in double digits for the second straight game, while Teresa Da Silva had 12 and Fapou Semebene scored 11.

The Raiders created scoring opportunities through their defense forcing 37 turnovers leading to 53 points. NWF also dominated the paint outscoring Denmark Tech 60-8 from close range.

In the two games of the tournament, Northwest Florida did not allow its opponent to score more than eight points in any quarter.

The Raiders return to action on Friday as the team takes part in the Courtyard/Capital Downtown Classic on the campus of Tallahassee Community College. NWF plays College of Central Florida on Friday at noon (CT) and Snow College Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT).
