No. 4 Raiders Ready for Weekend Action

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 4 Northwest Florida women's basketball plays host to USC Salk, Denmark Tech, and Tallahassee as the NWF Classic kicks off Friday in Raider Arena.

The Raiders (3-0) take on USC Salk at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Denmark Tech at 4 p.m. Saturday. NWF moved up one spot in the NJCAA poll after defeating then-No. 10 Tyler and No. 25 Angelina in the Tyler Classic last weekend.

Northwest Florida is out-rebounding opponents by 14.3 boards per game, including a +22-rebounding performance against Angelina. As a team, the Raiders lead Region VIII in field goal percentage shooting 47.1 percent (81-172). The squad also boasts the fifth-best defense in the league holding opponents to 59.7 points per contest.

Chanaya Pinto has hit the ground running in her freshman season. The Mozambique native is averaging 17.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.

USC Salk is ranked No. 20 in the NJCAA Division II poll after a 3-1 start to its season. The team is led by guard Andre'sia Alexander who has turned in 12.3 points per game. Sophomore forward Sha'Terra Ferrell follows closely behind with 11.3 points per game.

Denmark is 1-3 through four contests falling to Chipola, 113-29, and USC Salk, 72-63, to open the season.
