NWF Women Travel for Tyler Classic

NICEVILLE, Fla. – The fifth-ranked Northwest Florida women's basketball travels to the Lone Star State to participate in the Tyler Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The Raiders (1-0) play host Tyler Friday at 6 p.m. and Angelina College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

NWF dismantled No. 20 Wabash Valley, 86-63, to open the season. Freshman guard Masengo Mutanda scored a game-high 25 points and Chanaya Pinto finished with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Tyler (2-1) opened the season in the New Mexico Classic defeating Western Texas and Howard College before falling to New Mexico Junior College. Felmas Koranga paces the squad with 17.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. NWF defeated Tyler, 68-63 on Dec. 31 last season.

Angelina (1-1) dropped its opener to McLennan but rebounded with a 79-66 win over Temple on Saturday. Lovietta Walker has come off the bench to average 13.0 points per game for the Roadrunners.
