Raiders' Offense Explodes for 28 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep Over Enterprise

 

GAME ONE

Bre Hughes delivered a stellar performance at the plate Wednesday, going 3-for-3 to help propel Northwest Florida State to a 16-5 win over Enterprise State. Hughes doubled in the first inning and added singles in the second and third.

 

The Raiders took an early lead in the first inning, scoring two runs on an ESCC error and an Anna Grace Griggs bases-loaded walk. Hailey Henry extended the lead in the second with an RBI double.

 

A seven-run third inning broke the game open for Northwest Florida State. Griggs doubled in a run, followed by RBI singles from Anastasia Acree and Lillie Piersol. Hughes added a two-run single, Lulu Luedtke knocked in another run with a base hit, and Karson McGowan capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

 

The Raiders struck again in the fourth, adding six more runs on four hits. Hughes drew a bases-loaded walk, Henry drove in two with a single, and Mallory Baker crushed a three-run homer to center.

 

Cailyn Heyl dominated in the circle, allowing no hits and no runs over three innings while striking out four. Gracie Bonds took the loss for the Weevil's, surrendering 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits in 2.1 innings. Bre Barnes also saw action in relief for Northwest Florida State.

 

The Raiders racked up 14 hits, with Hughes and Henry leading the way with three apiece. Griggs and Acree also had multi-hit performances, while the team worked four walks and turned a double play.

 

For Enterprise, Katelynn Money led the offense with two hits, while Shak Washington, Grace Jernigan, Ally Whitehead, and Money each drove in a run.

 

GAME TWO

 

Sister Arnold delivered a standout performance Wednesday, driving in four runs with a home run and a double to lead Northwest Florida State to a dominant 12-0 victory over Enterprise State

 

The Raiders set the tone early, erupting for 10 runs in the first inning. Mallory Baker got things started with an RBI single, followed by a two-run double from Lulu Luedtke. Anastasia Acree and AJ Vineski each added RBI singles, while Hayden Andrews lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in another run. Arnold capped off the big inning with a three-run homer to left field. A fielder's choice off the bat of Hailey Henry allowed another run to score.

 

Arnold struck again in the second inning with an RBI double, extending the lead to 11-0. Sara Watson tacked on another run in the third with an RBI single to make it 12-0.

 

Vineski was dominant in the circle, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out two and walking one. Gabbie Causey took the loss for Enterprise, surrendering 12 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits over four innings. Mackenzie Boullon closed out the game for the Raiders with a perfect inning of relief, striking out one.

 

Northwest Florida State tallied 11 hits, with Baker and Arnold each collecting two.Kelcy Cooper recorded the lone hit for Enterprise, while the Weevils turned a double play on defense.
