GAME ONE
Hailey Henry delivered a clutch performance on Tuesday, driving in four runs with two hits, including a grand slam, to lead Northwest Florida State to a dominant 10-0 win over the Coastal South Coyotes.
A seven-run second inning set the tone for the Raiders. The scoring started with an error that allowed one run to cross the plate, followed by a Sister Arnold RBI double. Henry then launched a grand slam to center field, and Anna Grace Griggs capped off the inning with an RBI single.
Northwest Florida State added another run in the third, capitalizing on a Coastal South error.
Cailyn Heyl earned the win with a stellar outing in the circle, allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings while striking out four and walking one. Coastal South's Anna Griggs took the loss, surrendering seven hits and seven unearned runs over 1.2 innings with one strikeout.
Henry, Griggs, and Arnold each recorded two hits for Northwest Florida State. Defensively, the Raiders were flawless, committing no errors, with Arnold leading the team with seven defensive plays.
Bri Ryan went 1-for-2 to lead Coastal South in hits.
Northwest Florida State will face the Coastal South Coyotes again on Tuesday.
GAME TWO
Northwest Florida State scored four runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Coastal Alabama-South 7-1 on Tuesday.
Lulu Luedtke homered to center field, scoring two runs, and
Bre Hughes doubled, scoring two runs.
Northwest Florida State got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after
Haley Hughes doubled to center field, and
Anastasia Acree singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Sydni Carpenter hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth for the Coastal South Coyotes.
Mallory Baker earned the win for Northwest Florida State. The righty allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out two and walking one. Lauren Mounce started in the circle for Coastal South Coyotes. The hurler gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three.
Luedtke went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. The Raiders had patience at the plate, collecting four walks for the game. Northwest Florida State ran wild on the base paths, amassing three stolen bases for the game. Northwest Florida didn't commit a single error in the field.
Sister Arnold had the most chances in the field with 12.
Carpenter led Coastal Alabama with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Payson Hanson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Coyotes in hits.
