Mason Named Region VIII Softball Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After an outstanding performance at the plate last week, Christina Mason has been honored as the NJCAA Region VIII Softball Player of The Week for the week of Feb. 12-18.

Mason showcased her power hitting both in Niceville and Gulf Shores, delivering an impressive display. The sophomore from Cantonment, Fla. concluded her remarkable week with 16 hits in 19 at-bats, including five doubles, four home runs, and 19 RBIs in six games for the Raiders.

Her dominance began in Niceville, where Mason went a perfect five-for-five in two games against Wallace-Dothan, notching three doubles and three RBIs. The hitting streak continued as the Raiders traveled to Gulf Shores for matchups against Iowa Western and Lamar State-Port Arthur. Mason added five more hits in five at-bats, including three home runs, maintaining a perfect 10-10 hitting streak across four games until being retired in her 11th at-bat of the week. Undeterred, Mason continued her offensive onslaught, recording six more hits, another home run, and six RBIs before returning home.

With her outstanding performance, Mason is now tied with Ashlyn Shirah for the most hits on the team (27) and Sister Arnold for the most home runs (7). Additionally, Mason leads the team in RBIs (32), batting average (.614), on-base percentage (.731), and slugging percentage (1.295).
