Three Raiders Combine to Throw No-Hitter

Northwest Florida State (NWF) softball dominated Georgia Military College with a resounding 9-0 victory on Saturday, with three Raiders combining to throw a no-hitter against the Bulldogs in Clearwater.

Cailyn Heyl, Sydney Simpson, and Breana Barnes teamed up to pitch 6.0 hitless innings against the Bulldogs on Saturday. Heyl led the charge, starting the game and tossing 4.0 innings, while Simpson and Barnes provided solid relief pitching to preserve the no-hit bid.

The Raiders wasted no time getting on the board, capitalizing on an error by the Bulldogs in the first inning. Autumn Vessier's sacrifice fly and McKayla Ferguson's single each brought in a run, setting the tone for the game. Maintaining their momentum, NWF extended their lead in the second inning, with Ashlyn Shirah's single and Vessier's line out adding two more runs to the scoreboard.

In the sixth inning, the Raiders unleashed their offense once again, scoring three runs on four hits. Gyvan Hammons' triple and Sister Arnold's powerful home run to left field highlighted the inning, further solidifying the Raiders' dominance. Despite their efforts, the Bulldog's struggled to contain the Raiders' offense. Their pitcher, #20, faced tough opposition, allowing three hits and three runs over one inning.

NWF's lineup shined brightly, with Arnold, Hayden Andrews, Shirah, Ferguson, and Hammons each collecting two hits. Arnold led the team with two RBIs, while Shirah and Ferguson showcased their speed on the bases, stealing multiple bases.Defensively, the Raiders were impeccable, turning one double play and committing zero errors throughout the game. Madison Stewart was particularly active in the field, handling the most chances with precision.

Although Georgia Military College showed discipline at the plate, accumulating four walks, they couldn't match the Raiders' dominant performance, ultimately falling short in their efforts to halt the Raiders' onslaught.
