Raiders Blank Chipola 9-0

NICEVILLE, Fla. - Northwest Florida softball came out swinging today as they scored in all 4 innings they came up to bat. The Raiders cruised to a 9-0 victory to improve to 46-7, 13-4 in the Panhandle Conference.

 

The Raiders got the bats going early as Sydney Stewart led things off with a triple followed by another triple from Maycie Hardy two batters later. A double by Layla Thompson brought in Hardy to put the Raiders up 2-0 after one. In the 2nd inning, Kassidy Hood led it off with a double down the left field line, Brilee Broussard hit a single up the middle to advance Hood to third, and Sydney Stewart brought Hood in with a sacrifice fly. An error brought in Broussard and Stewart to stretch the lead to 5-0. Three home runs from Kassidy Hood, Sydney Stewart, and Abigail Pippen put the Raiders up 9.

 

3 Raiders picked up multiple hits on the evening. Sydney Stewart was 2-2 with a home run and a triple. Gyvan Hammons was 2-2 and Kassidy Hood was 2-2 with a double and a home run.

 

Northwest Florida's defense was stellar with Allison Brunson in the circle. The sophomore righty pitched a complete game gem, allowing 4 hits and striking out 4. Brunson threw 58 pitches over 5 innings, 39 of them for strikes.
