Raider Softball Cruises for 2 More Victories

Raider Softball Cruises for 2 More Victories

NICEVILLE, Fla. - The 2nd ranked Raiders have been dominant this season and tonight was another showcase of that. In game 1, NWF put up 7 runs in the first inning tonight vs. Wallace - Dothan Community College, finishing the game in a run-rule 13-0. In game 2, it was the same story as the Raiders came out on fire, scoring another 7 runs in the first inning and finishing up with a 10-0 victory over Hinds Community College in 5 innings.

Northwest Florida's offense has been electric this season as they have outscored their opponents 253-55. To put that in perspective, the Raiders have scored 57 runs in the first inning alone, which is more than their opponents have scored all year. The Raiders are hitting .389 as a team and have connected on 48 home runs this year.

The 26-2 record would not be possible without the Raider defense. Julia Petty has been shutting down everybody the Raiders have faced as Petty is sporting a 1.88 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched. Petty has collected 80 strikeouts and only given up 39 hits. Rycca Hinton has stepped up for the Raiders, sporting a team-best 1.37 ERA in 41.0 innings pitched. Northwest Florida's pitching staff will improve even more when Allison Brunson returns from injury shortly. Brunson is 7-0 on the year with a 1.56 ERA in 36.0 innings pitched.

The Raiders have 4 more games scheduled this weekend, playing Hinds Community College tomorrow at 11:00 AM followed by Andrew College at 4:00 PM. On Sunday, Northwest Florida and Andrew College will meet again for a doubleheader at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
