Andy Lee Picks Up 800th Career Win

NICEVILLE, Fla. - It was a special afternoon for Head Coach Andy Lee as he picked up career wins 799 and 800 tonight over Coastal Alabama - East. In game 1, the Raiders saw a plethora of runs in the first inning as they plated 10 runs before the Sun Chiefs recorded an out. Northwest Florida cruised to a 20-2 victory. In game 2, the runs were not as easy to come by after NWF plated 4 runs in the first but, the Raiders sailed to an 8-0 victory to capture Andy Lee's 800th victory.

 

The Raiders are riding a 9-game winning streak, dating back to February 18th. It has been a complete team effort as the Raider offense has been firing on all cylinders and Rycca Hinton, Julia Petty, and Emma Langston continue to shut down their opponents in the circle. Northwest Florida has outscored their opponents 226-51 this season and have out-hit their opponents 267-129. The Raider offense has hit 43 home runs with Riley Gibson and Abigail Pippen leading the team with 8 a piece. 12 players are batting over .300 this season, with 6 of those batting over .400. 

 

On the defensive side of things, Julia Petty is leading the way with 58.1 innings pitched. Petty has racked up 76 strikeouts, only allowing 17 earned runs. Petty is 11-1 on the season with a 2.04 ERA. Rycca Hinton is second on the team in innings pitched with 41.0. Hinton has struck out 34, allowing only 8 earned runs. Hinton has thrown 5 complete games this season and is 6-1 on the year with a 1.37 ERA. The return of Allison Brunson will be a huge boost to the team as the Southeastern Louisiana commit has been sidelined with a rib injury since February 17th. Brunson was off to a solid start this season as she had accumulated 36.0 IP and 36 strikeouts, only allowing 8 earned runs. Brunson was 7-0 on the year with a 1.56 ERA. 

 

The Raiders are 24-2 this season and have seen a huge rise in the ranks. Starting out at #6 in Region 8 coaches' poll and unranked in the NJCAA National Poll, Coach Andy Lee and his squad have put the nation on notice as the Raiders are now ranked 1st in the Region 8 poll and 2nd in the NJCAA poll.
