Big Second Inning Propels Northwest Florida Win Over Daytona State, 13-1
CLEARWATER, Fla. - A 12-run second inning led Northwest Florida to a 13-1 victory on Saturday over Daytona State College. The Raiders offense in the 2nd inning came from singles by Ashlyn Shirah, Riley Gibson, Gyvan Hammons, Kamryn Carver, and Maycie Hardy, a walk by Autumn Vessier, an error on a ball put in play by Brilee Broussard, and a double by Shirah.
Julia Petty was credited with the victory for the Raiders. The righty surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Emma Langston threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Northwest Florida racked up 12 hits in the game. Shirah, Abigail Pippen, Hardy, and Hammons each collected multiple hits for the Raiders. Hammons, Hardy, Pippen, and Shirah each collected two hits to lead the team.
