Wadsworth leads NWF past Coastal Alabama-South

NICEVILLE, FL - Alexis Wadsworth would not be denied at the plate on Friday, picking up four hits and leading Northwest Florida State College to a 16-7 win over Coastal Alabama-South. Wadsworth singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.

 

Coastal Alabama-South scored four runs in the second inning, but Northwest Florida State College still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive onslaught by Coastal Alabama-South was led by J. Walker, I. Landrum, and I. Furgason, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

 

In the first inning, Northwest Florida State College got their offense started.

 

Northwest Florida State College took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Maycie Hardy doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run and Gabby Fischetti singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

 

Northwest Florida State College put up five runs in the fourth inning. Northwest Florida State College's big bats in the inning were led by a walk by Fischetti, a single by Riley Gibson, and a groundout by Hardy.

 

Wadsworth earned the victory in the circle for Northwest Florida State College. Wadsworth surrendered zero runs on one hit over two innings, striking out one. Katie Walters threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

 

B. Cooper was on the rubber for Coastal Alabama-South. The pitcher went two innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and walking zero. J. Walker and Campbell entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.

 

Allison Brunson started the game for Northwest Florida State College. The righthander surrendered seven runs on six hits over two innings, striking out one

 

Northwest Florida State College launched one home run on the day. Abigail Pippen went deep in the second inning.

 

Northwest Florida State College totaled 20 hits in the game. Wadsworth, Brilee Broussard, Fischetti, Sydney Stewart, Pippen, and Layla Thompson each managed multiple hits for Northwest Florida State College. Wadsworth went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Northwest Florida State College in hits. Broussard led Northwest Florida State College with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases.

 

Coastal Alabama-South tallied nine hits in the game. B. Cooper and I. Furgason all managed multiple hits for Coastal Alabama-South.
