Raiders blast Daytona State 14-0

CLEARWATER, FL - Northwest Florida State College defeated Daytona State College 14-0 on Friday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Emma Langston struck out K. Crean to finish off the game.

 

Kassidy Hood led Northwest Florida State College to victory by driving in four runs. Hood went 2-for-3 at the plate. Hood drove in runs on a fielder's choice in the third and a home run in the fourth.

 

Northwest Florida State College opened up scoring in the first inning, when Abigail Pippen homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

 

Northwest Florida State College put up eight runs in the third inning. Northwest Florida State College put the pressure on, lead by singles by Sydney Stewart, Brilee Broussard, and Gabby Fischetti, a walk by Alexis Wadsworth, a triple by Pippen, and a fielder's choice by Hood. 

 

One bright spot for Daytona State College was a double by D. McQuain in the first inning.

 

Allison Brunson was credited with the victory for Northwest Florida State College. The righthander surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out four and walking zero. Langston and Katie Walters entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

 

M. Rivera took the loss for Daytona State College. The pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs over two innings, walking one.

 

Northwest Florida State College hit two home runs on the day. Hood had a four bagger in the fourth inning. Pippen had a homer in the first inning.

 

Northwest Florida State College tallied 16 hits in the game. Pippen, Hood, Destiney Gary, Broussard, Fischetti, and Stewart each racked up multiple hits for Northwest Florida State College. Pippen led Northwest Florida State College with three hits in four at bats.

 

D. McQuain went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Daytona State College in hits. Daytona State College was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. M. Linhart had the most chances in the field with four.
