Raiders Sweep on Final Day of Panhandle Round Robin

DOTHAN, Ala. – Northwest Florida State softball wrapped up play in the Panhandle Conference Round Robin with two wins on Saturday. The Raiders are now 26-8 overall and 3-1 in league play, the best conference start for the program since opening the 2016 season 10-1.

Northwest Florida 14, Tallahassee 5

NWF erupted for 11 runs in the fourth to cruise to a 14-5 win over Tallahassee.

The Raiders tallied seven extra base hits, including home runs from Emma Alley and Abby Sulte.

Sulte, who entered the day ranks fourth in NJCAA with 40 runs batted in, finished the day 3-for-3 with five RBIs.

Abbott Stafford, Alley, and Amber Divine collected two hits each.

Lauren Parson tossed three scoreless innings in relief to earn the victory in the circle.

Northwest Florida 14, Gulf Coast 13
The Raiders scored six time in the top of the seventh to survive a slugfest, 14-13, over Gulf Coast.

Despite the flood of runs, NWF got all of its offense in just three of the seven innings. The Raiders plated five runs in the first and three in the fourth before taking control of the game in the seventh.

Trailing 13-8, NWF loaded the bases to set up Brittni Rufus, who singled home a pair of runs. Gabrielle Fischetti then doubled home two more to bring the Raiders to within one.

After Bailey Cox drew a walk, Lele Martinez struck for a single followed by a bases-loaded walk by Alley.

Sulte, Divine, Sckylier Baronet, and Fischetti all picked up two hits each. Baronet hit a three-run homer in the first to give Northwest Florida an early 5-0 advantage.

In total, the Raiders scored 42 runs in four games over the weekend. The team entered play on Saturday leading the nation in runs scored.
