Lucky 13: Raiders Extend Winning Streak to Close Non-Conference Play

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State softball took both games of a Monday doubleheader over Coastal Alabama – North to end non-conference play on a 13-game winning streak.

Northwest Florida 13, Coastal Alabama – North 5

Despite trailing 5-0 early, Northwest Florida got its offense going in a big way routing Coastal Alabama – North, 13-5, in the first game of the doubleheader.

The Eagles hit four home runs over the first three innings before Lauren Parson took over in the circle and cruised through the final three innings. Parson struck out four and allowed just three hits in earning the victory.

The Raiders (23-7) exploded for 11 runs in the third inning and sent 15 batters to the plate.

Abby Sulte singled home Sckylier Baronet to get NWF on the board. Gabrielle Fischetti and Emma Alley followed with consecutive two-RBI doubles to tie the game at 5-all.

Two batters later Abbott Stafford gave the Raiders the lead with an RBI single before Baronet launched a three-run homer to left.

In the fifth, Sulte hit a solo blast to center to evoke the mercy rule.

Baronet and Cameron Hall both finished with three hits each to lead the Raiders.

Northwest Florida 9, Coastal Alabama – North 0

Katie Walters tossed a one-hit shutout as the Raiders rolled, 9-0, in game two.

Walters struck out seven and walked one in the complete game victory, her 11th win of the season.

Hall singled home the game's first run in the second before the Raiders picked up two more runs on Coastal Alabama miscues.

Sulte doubled home a run in the third and Hill hit a two-run homer in the fourth.

Northwest Florida sealed the win on a two-run home run to left by Emma Alley, her fifth of the year.

NWF opens conference play on Friday in the Panhandle Conference Round Robin in Dothan, Ala. The Raiders will take on Chipola and Pensacola (1 and 3 p.m.) on Friday before facing Tallahassee and Gulf Coast on Saturday (9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.).
