POPLARVILLE, Miss. – Northwest Florida softball defeated Des Moines, 15-2, before falling to Pearl River, 11-3, Saturday.
Northwest Florida 15, Des Moines 2
The Raiders (18-8) exploded for 13 runs in the first inning in a 15-2 rout of Des Moines. NWF batted around twice in the frame and at one point saw 12 consecutive batters reach base.
Lele Martinez and Abby Sulte hit back-to-back homers, while Gabrielle Fischetti delivered a gut punch with a 3-RBI triple.
Martinez, Sulte, Ivey Hill, and Makiya Giles finished with two RBIs each.
Lauren Rase earned the win tossing three innings. Hill and Giles closed out the game in the circle.
Pearl River 11, Northwest Florida 3
Pearl River scored nine runs combined in the second and third innings en route to an 11-3 victory over Northwest Florida.
Brooke Fagan was 2-for-4 with six RBIs for the Wilcats highlighted by a second-inning grand slam.
Ashley Autuori and Martinez each finished 2-for-3, Martinez drove in two runs on a triple.
The Raiders return to action Tuesday at home against Lake Michigan.
