Offense Shines in Sweep of Lurleen B. Wallace

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida softball improved to 17-7 with a pair of wins over Lurleen B. Wallace on Thursday at the Raider Softball Complex.

Northwest Florida 7, Lurleen B. Wallace 6

Trailing 6-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Raiders scratched out three runs to take the victory.

Abby Sulte and Abbey Higginbotham singled to lead off the frame. Amber Divine roped a double to right field to plate both runs and tie the game at 6-all. Divine advanced to third on a ground ball before Sckylier Baronet chopped a 1-1 pitch to third to score the winning run.

Northwest Florida pounded out 13 hits in the win. Sulte finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs score. Ashley Autuori, Lele Martinez, Higginbotham, and Gabrielle Fschetti all collected two hits each.

Lauren Rase tossed three innings in relief of starter Brookelyn Sweeney to earn the win in the circle. Rase allowed just one hit and struck out four.

Northwest Florida 10, Lurleen B. Wallace 2

Ivey Hill hit a pair of home runs and Abby Sulte doubled and tripled as the Raiders raced past Lurleen B. Wallace 10-2 in five innings.

Hill hits a solo home run in the second and a two-run shot in the Raiders' five-run third. NWF has now hit 30 home runs in 26 games this season.

Sulte and Cipriano had two RBIs each as the team collected eight extra base hits in the game.

Rase picked up the win striking out four in four innings of work. Hill tossed a clean fifth to close out the game.

Northwest Florida returns to action Saturday as the team travels to Poplarville, Miss., to take on Des Moines and Pearl River.
