Sweeney, Martinez Lead Raiders to Victory

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Lele Martinez continued to terrorize non-conference pitching collecting six hits as Northwest Florida won both games of a doubleheader against Enterprise State Tuesday at the Raider Softball Complex.

Northwest Florida 12, Enterprise State 0 (5 innings)

Martinez was 3-for-4 with a 2-run home run and an RBI double, while Brookelyn Sweeney tossed her second no-hitter of the season to lead Northwest Florida to a 12-0 victory in the first game of the day.

The Raiders scored four runs in the first – highlighted by Martinez's homer – then exploded for eight runs in the third.

Ariana Cipriano was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and Amber Divine drove in two runs as well.

Sweeney hurled her second no-no in the last eight days striking out eight batters across five innings. The sophomore walked three in the winning effort.

Northwest Florida 7, Enterprise State 6

Sckylier Baronet, Abby Sulte, and Sweeney all went deep as the Raider outslugged Enterprise in the nightcap. The teams combined to hit six home runs in the contest.

Martinez picked up three more hits and scored twice. Baronet gave NWF a 2-0 lead with a 2-run shot in the second inning. Sulte and Sweeney went back-to-back in the third to build the advantage to 6-0.

Ivey Hill, Lauren Rase, and Sweeney combined in the pitching effort. Hill got the start and fanned five across 3.2 innings.

With the wins, Northwest Florida improved to 6-0 at home this season.

The Raiders host Lurleen B. Wallace for a doubleheader Thursday at 2 p.m.
