Martinez Named NJCAA National Player of the Week

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Following a monster week at the plate, Northwest Florida sophomore Lele Martinez has been named NJCAA National Player of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

Martinez, who was named FCSAA/Region VIII Player of the Week Tuesday, batted .500 (10-20) with 11 runs scored, 11 RBIs, four doubles, and two home runs. The Ponce, Puerto Rico native had five multi-hit game highlighted by a 2-for-4 performance with a home run and four RBIs against No. 9 Wallace-Dothan.

On the season, Martinez is batting .373 with five homers, 21 runs batted in, eight stolen bases, a .429 on-base percentage, and a .824 slugging percentage. She continued her hot run with a 3-run home run on Tuesday against Pearl River.

Martinez is the first Raider since Paige Johnson in April of 2016 to be named NJCAA National Player of the Week.
