Autuori Shines as Raiders Roll

BREWTON, Ala.  – Northwest Florida softball looked impressive from start to finish sweeping a doubleheader at Coastal Alabama – East on Tuesday. The Raiders took game one 14-1 before claiming game two 11-1.

GAME ONE

Ashley Autuori drove in six runs and scored three more as Northwest Florida (4-1) plated 10 runs over the final two innings of a 14-4 victory.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Gabrielle Fischetti led off the frame with a solo home run. Following a single by Ariana Cipriano, Autuori launched her first home run of the season over the wall in center field. Autuori wasn't done, however. To cap an eight-run seventh inning, the sophomore hit a grand slam to left highlighting her second career multi-homer game.

Makiya Giles, Amber Divine, and Fischetti finished the game with two hits and two RBIs each.

Lauren Rase got the start in the circle and tossed four innings and struck out three to earn her second win of the season.

GAME TWO

The Raiders offense got going early in the nightcap. NWF scored two in the first on a Giles double, then added two more on a double by Cipriano in the third.

Brookelyn Sweeney went deep for a three-run home run in the fourth to stretch the lead to 7-1. She was followed by an RBI double from Sckylier Baronet and a run scoring single by Cipriano.

Sweeney ended the game with two hits and four runs batted in. Divine was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Abbey Higginbotham continued to swing the bat well collecting three hits as well.

Ivey Hill pitched four innings and allowed one run on four hits to earn the victory in the circle.

Northwest Florida returns to action Thursday as the team travels to Dothan, Ala., for the Visit Dothan Invitational.
