Northwest Florida Softball Set for Opener

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida softball kicks off its 2020 campaign in Clearwater, Fla., in the JUCO Kickoff Showcase Friday and Saturday.

The Raiders take on State College of Florida at 9 a.m. (CT) and Fayetteville Tech at 11 a.m. Friday, then square off against Miami Dade at (11 a.m.) and East Georgia State at 12:12 p.m. Saturday. Under first-year head coach Andy Lee, NWF received 37 points in the preseason NJCAA Region 8 Softball Poll to come in at No. 11 in the region. The Raiders return five players from last year's squad including Ashley Autuori, who finished as the team's leading hitter with a .418 average and 64 runs batted in.

Lauren Rase and Brookelyn Sweeney combined to toss 131.2 of the squad's 296 innings in the circle. The duo combined for four complete games in 2019.
