NICEVILLE, Florida – Northwest Florida State men's basketball is looking to bounce back this weekend following a tough loss earlier in the week to No. 10 Daytona State at home. This loss marked the first of the season for the Raiders, bringing their overall record to 10-1.

 

Now the Raiders look ahead to pair of games in Melbourne, Fla. for this weekend's JUCO Shootout, where they are set to face off against Florida Southwestern State (Saturday) and Hillsborough College (Sunday).

 

TIP OFF

NWF will start the weekend off by going up against Florida Southwestern State on Saturday, December 2, at 11:00 AM CST. The Pirates come into the weekend with a record of 5-2, with their two losses coming against South Georgia Tech (61-56) and No. 4 Salt Lake College (73-70).

 

From there, the Raiders will take on Hillsborough College Sunday, December 3, also at 11:00 AM CST. The Hawks are off to a 6-1 start to their season with their only loss coming against Florida State College-Jacksonville (91-86)

LAST TIME OUT

The Raiders dropped their first matchup of the season on Tuesday (Nov. 28) falling to No. 10 Daytona State, 85-79. After trailing in the first half, the Falcons were able to keep the Raiders at bay in the second half thanks to 12 NWF turnovers in the final 20 minutes. This allowed for Daytona State to jump out to an early lead in the second, which they wouldn't surrender for the remainder of the game.

 

Tajuan Simpkins led the Raiders in scoring with 21 total points, adding four assists and three steals to his stat sheet. RaSheed Jones and Tavion Banks each notched 13 points in the scoring column. Banks also recorded seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and a block to his mix.
