Five Raiders Score in Double Figures as Raiders Improve to 8-0

PENSACOLA, Florida – Northwest Florida State men's basketball put on an offensive clinic in Pensacola on Monday, defeating Coastal Alabama-South 106-83 after five different Raiders found themselves in the double-digit scoring column.

Tyrese Elliott led the Raiders with a season-high 18 points, adding three rebounds and four assists. Trey Brown also scored a season-high against the Coyotes, putting up 14 points while adding four rebounds. Tajuan Simpkins (12), Tavion Banks (11) and RaSheed Jones (10) were the other three Raiders to reach double-figure scoring for the game. Jadyn Shider had another solid performance on the glass, securing 11 total rebounds, coming two points shy of his fourth double-double of the season.

As a team, NWF shot an impressive 56.3% from the field – their second highest mark on the season. However, the Raiders struggles from behind the arc continued Monday as NWF only made six of their 25 three points attempts for a 24.0% clip.

The Raiders and Coyotes had identical rebounding numbers – Coastal Alabama-South finished the game with 37 total rebounds while the NWF finished with 36. The Raiders defense forced the Coyotes to 18 turnovers for the game, which included 13 steals.

NWF now moves to 8-0 on the year making it the first time since 2018 that the Raiders began a season with eight-straight victories.

UP NEXT

Now, the Raiders look forward to Tuesday when they will take on a formidable Trinity Valley team who started the season 6-0 but lost their opening game of the Pensacola Classic on Monday to host school Pensacola State, 59-51.

From there, the Raiders will have another tough draw against Jones College who's also off to a hot start, beginning the season 7-1, including a win on Monday against Gulf Coast State, 85-77.
