Raiders Blow Pirates Out of the Water, 85-58

NICEVILLE, Fla. - Northwest Florida dominated from start to finish as they defeated Pensacola State 85-58 on Saturday night in Raider Arena. The Raiders improved their record to 19-6, 5-2 in Panhandle Conference play.

 

Northwest Florida stepped up and outworked the Pensacola on the glass, outrebounding the Pirates 39-26. The Raiders were able to take advantage in the paint as they scored 18 second chance points and 36 points in the paint. The Raider defense played a big part in tonight's win as they forced 19 turnovers. 

 

The Raiders connected on 28-60 (46.7%) shots from the field tonight and 6-16 from 3. Chad Baker-Mazara was 3-6 from deep, totaling 15 points on the night. Baker-Mazara dished out 4 assists and had 2 steals. Kasean Pryor had another outstanding game, scoring 27 points on 7-16 shooting and collecting 10 rebounds. Pryor drew 9 fouls, and cashed in on 12-14 free throws. Jaylon McDaniel from 5-5 from the field, scoring 12.

 

The Raiders will hit the road to take on the Gulf Coast Commodores in Panama City on Wednesday night. Northwest Florida took the first game in the series 81-62 on January 21st. Gulf Coast (13-10, 2-5) is on a 2 game losing streak, falling to Chipola and Tallahassee. The Commodores took the Eagles to overtime on Saturday night, falling 102-92.
