Raiders Win Defensive Battle vs. Chipola, 63-53

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida defended their home court again, this time against the Chipola Indians 63-53 on Saturday night in Raider Arena. The Raiders improved their home record to 10-1 this season and 18-6 overall.

 

Tonight's game featured a defensive battle as both teams struggled to get any good shots up in the first half. Going into intermission, the Raiders were up 24-15 and held Chipola to 4-16 from the field. In the second half, Northwest Florida pulled away, opening the gates to a 23-point lead before taking out the starting 5 with under 4 minutes remaining.

 

Kasean Pryor continues to shine as he led the team with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Pryor was 10-14 from the charity stripe tonight. Tavion Banks recorded 14 points and a team-leading 3 steals. The Raiders were 19-45 (42.2%) from the field.

 

Northwest Florida (18-6, 4-2) will have a bye on Wednesday before taking the court on Saturday, February 4th vs. Pensacola State College at 4:00 PM. In the first matchup, the Raiders came away with a 73-67 road win. The Pirates (9-13, 0-5) have lost their last 9 matchups, dating all the way back to December 7th. Pensacola will take on previously ranked #1 Tallahassee on Wednesday before taking the trip to Raider Arena on Saturday.
