
NWF Goes 2-1 in Pensacola Thanksgiving Classic
PENSACOLA, FL. - Northwest Florida men's basketball went 2-1 over 3 days at the Pensacola State Thanksgiving Classic. The Raiders defeated Jones College, 78-64 in overtime on Monday, Lamar State - Port Arthur 78-75 on Tuesday, and fell to Ranger College, 89-58 on Wednesday morning.
On Monday vs. Jones College, the Raiders pulled away in overtime, cruising to a 78-64 victory after being knotted up at 62 at the end of regulation. Northwest Florida dominated the glass vs. Jones as they outrebounded the Bobcats 49-31 in what proved to be the difference in the contest. Jaylon McDaniel had an impressive performance with 16 points and 6 rebounds after sitting out the 5 previous games due to a back injury.
On Tuesday vs. Lamar State - Port Arthur, Northwest Florida defeated the Seahawks 78-75. It was the same story as the day before as the Raiders dominated the glass yet again, this time outrebounding Lamar State 45-25. Kasean Pryor had a double-double, recording 24 points with 12 rebounds, 6 of those being offensive boards.
On Wednesday vs. Ranger College, Northwest Florida's slow start was too much to overcome as the Rangers won 89-58 in Hartsell Arena. The Raiders struggled to shoot in their third game in three days, shooting 25-71 (35%) from the field. On the other hand, Ranger College was on fire from all over the court as they finished the game knocking down 33 shots on 56 attempts (59%). The Rangers sank 14 3's on 25 attempts, thanks to Shay Davis shooting 6-11 from beyond the arc. For the Raiders, Chad Baker-Mazara had a productive tournament as he scored 39 points over 3 games.
The Raiders (8-3) will take on Central Georgia Technical College in Macon, Georgia on Tuesday, November 29th at 5:30 PM EST.
