NWF Pulls Away in Overtime Win 78-64

PENSACOLA, FL - Northwest Florida got back to their winning ways after defeating Jones College 78-64 in overtime on Monday afternoon in Hartsell Arena. The Raiders and Bobcats exchanged the lead nine times and also were tied nine different times, most notably at the end of regulation with the score knotted at 62. NWF buckled down in overtime, outscoring Jones College 16-2.

 

The Raiders scorched the nets in the second half, shooting 19-39 (48.7%) after intermission. Jaylon McDaniel, after being out for 5 games due to a back injury, helped the Raiders to a win tonight with 16 points on 6-8 shooting and 6 grabbing rebounds. Takai Simpkins led the Raiders with 19 points on 7-15 shooting. There were 5 Raiders in double digits tonight with Taryn Todd (13), Chad Baker-Mazara (12), and Marcus Niblack (10) rounding out the top scorers.

 

In addition to the strong 2nd half shooting performance, Northwest Florida dominated the glass as the Raiders out rebounded Jones College 49-31. Marcus Niblack and Chad Baker-Mazara led the team with 9 rebounds each. Collin Warren and Takai Simpkins hauled in 7 rebounds a piece. 

 

The Raiders (7-2) will be back in Pensacola tomorrow, November 22nd as they take on Lamar State - Port Arthur (4-2) at 3:00 PM. The Seahawks are scoring with ease this season as they are averaging 101.3 points/game.
