NWF Men Victorious in Season Opener

NWF Men Victorious in Season Opener

The top-ranked Northwest Florida Raiders got off to a sluggish start to the season in Coach DeMeo's return to Niceville, going down 8-0 before Collin Warren floated one in for the first points of the new year. After multiple lead changes in the first half, Southern Union lead 51-48 at the break. That lead continued for the next 12 minutes in the second half until Kasean Pryor knocked down two free throws to give the Raiders a 76-75 lead.

The Raiders never surrendered the lead after that point, squeaking out a 95-89 victory. Marcus Niblack led the Raiders with 21 points. There were 5 Raiders tonight with double-digit points. Collin Warren (16), Kasean Pryor (15), Tavion Banks (13), and Takai Simpkins (12) all contributed to shooting 53% from the field.

Northwest Florida outscored Southern Union 47-38 in the second half, with help from clutch free throws at the end by Marcus Niblack to keep the game out of reach.

Northwest Florida returns to the court on Friday, November 4th vs. Copiah-Lincoln at 7:30 PM.
