Raiders Tripped Up by Indian River
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Northwest Florida State men's basketball led for most of the game, but faltered late falling to Indian River, 79-75, in the Juco Shootout on Saturday.
The sixth-ranked Raiders built a 17-point lead in the first half but were outscored 49-36 in the final 20 minutes and eventually surrendered the lead in the final 90 seconds to fall to 3-1 on the season.
On the stat sheet, NWF won several key categories, including rebounding (46-37) and points in the paint (24-6) but Indian River knocked down 12 three-pointers and scored 17 points from the free throw line to pull out the win.
Tre Clark paced Northwest Florida with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Kam Woods had 16 points, while Brennan Rigsby and Deshawndre Washington added 12 each. Washington also finished with a team-high nine rebounds.
The Raiders return home on Nov. 20 to face Gaston at 4 p.m. (CT).
