ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Northwest Florida State men's basketball held off a frenzied Polk State comeback to take a 69-54 decision in the Juco Shootout hosted by St. Petersburg College on Friday.
The sixth-ranked Raiders led by as many as 20 in the second half, but the Eagles came roaring back to cut their deficit to just two, 48-46, with just over seven minutes to play.
Led by double-digit efforts from Brennan Rigsby, Tre Clark, and Michael Jefferson, NWF was able to put the game away late.
Rigsby led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Clark was 6-of-12 to finish with 13 points and six rebounds. Jefferson added 13 points highlighted by a trio of three-pointers.
The Raiders (3-0) outrebounded Polk State 45-37 and scored 22 points off 14 Eagle turnovers.
Northwest Florida State takes on Indian River on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. (CT).
